IWRDL wouldn’t exist without the Inner West community. Whether you’re interested in playing, refereeing, volunteering or sponsoring the team, there’s a place for anyone who’s looking for an inclusive, friendly and energetic derby family.
Experienced derby girl looking to transfer?
We’d love to meet you! If you’ve passed minimum skills, you’re welcome to trial with us for two weeks fee-free to see if you’re into the Inner West vibe. Contact us at email@example.com.
New to skating (or never skated before!) and keen to learn?
Thank you for your patience in waiting for word from IWRDL during this crazy time. As you can probably imagine, the IWRDL Executive committee have been working behind the scenes in order to determine the best possible strategy for our league during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have had long discussions about the risk to our skaters, volunteers and extended community and throughout these discussions, always kept the wellbeing and safety of our members at the centre as the highest priority.
Sadly, we need to advise that all IWRDL activity is officially suspended until further notice. This sadly includes the postponement of the IWRDL Learn to Skate program that was due to start on Sunday 22 March 2020. We have used the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) advice, as well as the Australian Government and NSW Health advice and feel that this is the best action for our league at this time. We are most disappointed at the need to postpone this program.
IWRDL is taking all precautions and consider that suspended activity includes not only our Learn to Skate, but also senior competitive training, and any face to face committee meetings, IWRDL planned social events or IWRDL planned social skates. Any IWRDL activities at this time will require members to connect virtually, either by phone, video link, social media or messenger chats.
The IWRDL Executive and Training committee are committed to delivering upon the Learn to Skate program as soon as our community is clear to come together again. The leadership of our league will monitor the situation closely over the coming weeks and provide email updates to you regularly via email. We hope we can get back on track ASAP.
We would love to continue to engage with you all in preparation for your skating adventures with us so if you would like to get in touch, please feel free to do so.
Our Facebook event page will remain active with a placeholder date. Information will be posted there as well as distributed by email the situation develops.
If you have any questions about these decisions, would like to discuss anything further, or would like to receive our email updates, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to you all for your understanding and we hope you are keeping safe during this scary time.
We look forward to connecting with you soon.
Love derby but not keen on skating?
Inner West is entirely run off the sweat, tears and barbecues of our incredible volunteer community. Whether you’re interested in refereeing, commentating or supporting the league in organising bouts and running fundraising events, there’s a place for everyone on our team.
Interested in sponsorship opportunities?
As a not-for-profit sporting team, support from the local community means we can let the skaters focus on skating. If you’re interested in a one-off or longer term partnership, contact us on email@example.com.
